Canadian attorney Brian Ludmer has been invited to speak at the Seventh International Conference on Shared Parenting (ICSP), scheduled for December 3–6, 2025, in Lisbon, Portugal. The conference will be held at the University of Lisbon and the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE), and will feature in-person and virtual components.
Brian Ludmer, a recognized authority in aspects of family law such as high-conflict divorce, parental alienation, and complex custody matters involving children, is scheduled to give a presentation titled “How to Make a Successful Court Submission for Equal Shared Parenting in 2025.” The central point of this presentation will be to provide practical and actionable strategies for legal professionals to advocate for equal shared parenting arrangements in contemporary legal contexts. The presentation will last for approximately 15 minutes, followed by a period of time set aside for questions from the audience and general discussion.
A longtime proponent of shared parenting, Brian Ludmer has been instrumental in advancing that cause in Canada. Beyond his legal practice, where he often accepts cases centered around high-conflict custody disputes, he helped to draft Bill C-560, which proposed a presumption of equal shared parenting in all custody matters throughout Canada. Brian Ludmer is also actively involved in several professional organizations dealing with shared parenting. He is a co-founder of Lawyers for Shared Parenting and a frequent collaborator with the Canadian Equal Parenting Coalition and the National Parents Organization. Brian Ludmer has also given talks at previous iterations of the ICSP conference, having made a presentation at the Sixth International Conference on Shared Parenting in Athens, Greece, in 2023.
The ICSP conference serves as a global platform for experts from many different disciplines to discuss and promote shared parenting. The 2025 event will focus on the theme “Shared Parenting in Practice: Challenges and Opportunities,” addressing the complexities and benefits of shared parenting arrangements.
